News and Events at the Library

We’re heading into the home stretch of the 2021 Summer Reading Program at the Caestecker Public Library – only one more week to go. We have a grand finale for Activity Packs planned, and there’s a small preview of what’s to come in the glass display case in the library. There’s still a little time to catch the reading bug and have a chance to win some fun prizes!

This Thursday, you are invited to join Joe and Jon Roti Roti in a discussion of chess strategy, blunders, and more! You can find this wonder of wonders by searching for Wizard138 (on Twitch) Thursday, 7/22 at 3 pm. A live connection to the tutorial will be here at the library and available for all ages and skill levels, but we’re focusing on beginners. Chess boards will be provided.

On Saturday, July 24 from 9 am to 1 pm, you have your next chance to find great deals on gently used books, movies, music, puzzles, and more. It’s all in the lower level of the library at the Friends Book Sale.

Next up, you’re welcome to join us for a Thomas E. Caestecker Free Family Concert Featuring Third Lake Brass Quintet on Thursday, July 29 at 2 pm in the Burr Oak room. Third Lake Brass Quintet is a collection of professional Madison-area brass musicians dedicated to the performance of new and classic brass quintet repertoire The ensemble consists of Paul Dietrich and Jessica Jensen, trumpets; Sarah Gillespie, horn; Joe Greer, trombone, Jacob Grewe, tuba.
