Newspaper Column for February 27, 2020

‘Twas the hour before close and all through the space, people were stirring all over the place! All the meeting rooms were full, most of the computers and laptops were in use, folks were chatting by the fireplace, teens were doing homework (be proud of those kids of yours), and families were playing in the kids’ room. There were job seekers, community activity planners, and people just looking for entertainment and education. We had a shelf full of new books to process and put in eager hands, a hold shelf fit to burst, and wonder of all wonders—our circulation is UP!  On that day alone we had 63 people attend library sponsored programs and many more here for their own purposes. February is Library Lovers month and we are certainly feeling the love. But this isn’t a pat on the back for the library moment—it’s a pat on the back for library users and community builders. You’re using the resources and communal space already in place for you, and it’s a beautiful thing. Keep up the good work!

Now, onto a few more opportunities to bring you to the library: our next Road to the Oscars movie is “Joker” which earned the most nominations of the year and won two: Joaquin Phoenix for Best Actor and Best Original Music Score. “Joker” will be showing March 3 at 6 pm and March 5 at 1 pm. Of course, we will have the yummy popcorn generously donated by Guth’s Candy in Waupun. If “Joker” doesn’t strike your fancy this week, stop by and see what else we have available. There’s always plenty to see and do at the Caestecker Library.
