Newspaper Column for September 5, 2019

School may have just started, but book publishers are in full holiday season mode. More books get released between now and Thanksgiving than any other time during the year. Stop in often, as you can expect to see new titles every day or two. We’ll try to keep the displays stocked with the newest books and movies, but if you happen to spot us working on a title that intrigues you – by all means, let us know and we will put it on hold. We’re also happy to place holds for you even on items that aren’t yet released. And if you know your favorite author has a new book coming out, please mention it to us. With so many titles released every week at this time of year, we want to be sure we don’t miss something you’ve been waiting to read.

Have you read Shotgun Lovesongs yet? If so, excellent. You can join us at our Constant Reader Book Club discussion Tuesday, September 10 at 3:30 pm. If you haven’t read it yet, and you want to get started – we have copies available to purchase for $10 each at the front desk. The county libraries will also have tie-in programs during the month of September, stay tuned for details to come. It all culminates with a book signing by Nickolas Bulter on October 5th at 2pm at the Berlin High School auditorium. Free tickets for the big event will be available at Green Lake County libraries soon!

We also have two events coming up this week that may be of interest to you. First, on Tuesday September 10 at 6 pm join us for our Fall Film Screening Series on Wisconsin Hometown Stories from Oshkosh. You may have a few of your own Oshkosh-related stories to share at the end. Next, on Wednesday, September 11 at 1:30 pm the Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin will be here to help us learn ways to effectively and compassionately communicate with someone who has dementia. We hope to see you!
