December 27th Newspaper Column

Happy New Year and best wishes for 2019 from all of us at the Caestecker Public Library!

If making (and sticking to) New Year’s resolutions is on your agenda, we’re here to help. Whether you wish to try a new hobby, find a workable exercise plan, eat a healthier, tasty diet, upgrade your computer skills, learn a foreign language, or just get out and talk with fellow Green Lake area residents more in 2019, we have what you need.

If you haven’t visited the Resources area of the library website lately, I invite you to take a little time to see what’s available. That’s where you will find Mango Languages, our online place for learning over 70 different world languages. If learning a computer language is more your thing, click on the Tech Skills Center, where you can go from learning email basics to designing websites using computer coding and algorithms. Fixing your engine? We can help with that, too. The new AutoMate site has service and repair information for thousands of vehicles. And there’s more to explore. All these resources are available to you – free of charge -  24/7, and all you need is your library card number and PIN. Not a bad deal.

With the new week comes another holiday, and its accompanying changed schedule. We will be open on Monday (New Year’s Eve) from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We will be closed all of New Year’s Day. And we will be back to our usual hours beginning Wednesday, January 2nd.

One final bit of news, and a request to go along with it. The lovely folks at Crossroads Market have selected the Caestecker Public Library as their first Rooster Round Up Program recipients of 2019. When you shop at Crossroads from January 1-15, you will have an opportunity to round up your purchase to support programs at the library. It’s always a great idea to shop local, and especially so at places that give back to the community as generously as Crossroads. Please start off your 2019 by shopping there early and often. Thanks!
