July 26th Newspaper Column

It’s hard to write a newspaper column when what you really want to do is sit outside and watch all the airplanes flying over on their way to the EAA…

But, I can tie in to the aviation enthusiasm a bit through one of our upcoming programs. Next Tuesday (after Airventure 2018 is in the books) retired DNR pilot Bev Paulan returns to the library for an evening talk on success stories – how some species that were endangered or just gone from Wisconsin are making a comeback. We could all use some good news, so plan to come and hear about continuing efforts on behalf of our native wild birds. Bev’s talk on the 31st begins at 6:30 p.m.

Aside from planes and birds, we continue to have a musical focus to the summer. Today (July 26) we’re screening Pitch Perfect at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29 we host another Acoustic Jam from 1-3:30 – your chance to make music with fellow Green Lakers. And on Tuesday morning we welcome members of Suwanee Swing Saloon for a 10:00 concert of jazz favorites. Our thanks to the Green Lake Festival of Music for having us be a venue once again for the Thomas E. Caestecker Free Family Concert series.

All this plus books and movies and audio books – and have you explored our online resources? There’s always something to educate, entertain, and delight you at the library!
