June 1st (I hope it made it into the) Newspaper Column

Books and birds are the watch words this week at the library. We have lots of new books in, just in time for summer reading. And we will be highlighting some great newer reads for young people at today’s Thursday Morning Conversation. Stop in just before 10:00, grab a coffee and a sweet treat, and discover some titles to add to your favorite young person’s “to be read” pile. Or check them out yourself – some of the coolest books in the library are written for kids, tweens, and teens. Laurn Norton and I will be co-presenting, so there will be a wide variety of interests covered.

And those birds? We are very pleased to welcome Rebekah Weiss of Aves Wildlife Alliance back to the library for a program on Saturday morning at 10:30. Beka was originally due to present in mid-April, and had to cancel due to health concerns. She’s gotten the all-clear from her doctor and really wanted to come, and we are so happy to accommodate! Bring your bird-related questions, revel in the opportunity to see some birds of prey up close, and support the important work that Beka and other rehabilitators do on behalf of Wisconsin’s wild creatures.
