August 21st Newspaper Column

Summer is getting ready to pack her bags and head out of town. We’ve said goodbye to lots of our seasonal residents already, the kids and teachers at Peace Lutheran School are back in their classrooms, and the college students who came home for the summer are heading back to campuses near and far. We’re taking a few weeks off of most special programming, too, the better to plan for fall and winter events.

That’s not to say there’s nothing new at the library. Boxes of new books arrive every week. Lots of your favorite TV series are building excitement for the upcoming fall season by releasing DVD sets of last season’s shows. We’ll be following the Emmy Awards next Monday night to see what winners we may need to add to the collection. And we always take recommendations from folks who visit the library on what other items (books, movies, music)we should add.

We have one last Thursday morning LEGO club meeting for the summer on August 21 at 10:00. LEGO club will then take a week of vacation and return to the school year schedule of Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. starting on September 4th. We’re figuring out our school year schedule for story times, too, and will share that on the website ( by the end of the week.

And that’s it for now. Enjoy your final few weeks of fun in the Green Lake sun!
