July 10th Newspaper Column

Some of us are finding it hard to believe, but this summer the library is celebrating its 20th anniversary of being on Hill Street. We were still pretty new to the area when my three year old son joined the book parade moving items two blocks from the former building to the library’s new, wonderful home. We’re planning a celebration for Sunday afternoon, August 3, so please mark your calendars. Details to follow.

My son is now a college graduate, but he and his girlfriend are still finding ways to help out at the library. They are running our July craft program for kids on Wednesday mornings and have plans in the works for a summer movie series. Watch this space or check www.greenlakelibrary.org for details.

There are three weeks left for young readers to earn themselves ice cream and museum passes and Timber Rattlers baseball tickets and more. If your favorite young person hasn’t yet signed up to participate in one of our summer reading programs, there’s still plenty of time. Stop by the checkout desk to get the scoop. We love to reward kids for summer reading!
