June 19th Newspaper Column

Hello everyone! I’m back from my road trip and ready for summer fun in Green Lake. And I know just the way to get it started: Free Ice Cream at the Library!

Yes, it’s time for our annual Ice Cream Social, coming this year on Sunday, June 22nd  from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Build your own sundae or choose from a variety of float flavors, all featuring yummy ice cream from Bayview Landing. We’ll be signing kids up for the Summer Reading Program that afternoon, and we’ll have a contest or two to add to the fun.

With Green Lake’s recently being assigned “impaired” status, it’s more important than ever that we take care of our greatest local resource. Learn about lake ecology and aquatic invasive species on Tuesday night at Chris Hamerla‘s presentation. Chris’s presentation begins at 6:30.

And the Green Lake Festival of Music is back with a terrific lineup of concerts throughout June and July, one of which will be taking place right here. For the third year running, we are happy to host Stan Venglevski, bayan (Russian accordion) player extraordinaire. Join us on Wednesday, June 25th at high noon for this free family concert.
