April 17th Newspaper Column

We’re in the middle of National Library Week, and while we hope you will stop in and help us celebrate, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the folks who help make this library a great community hub. It all starts with the people who work here, and I am blessed to have a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, dedicated, and funny group of coworkers. Great people, every one of them.

The Caestecker Library also benefits from a terrific Board of Trustees, a passionate Friends group, a Foundation always willing to help us fund special events and the “above and beyond” things, and the best volunteers in the state. It may take a village to raise a child, but it takes a City and Town to make a great library. Thank you to everyone who cares for and about this place.

We have some limited hours over the Easter holidays – we will be open on Good Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., same on Saturday, and will be closed on Easter Sunday. Come Monday the 21st, though, things are back to normal. Even better, we have special programs and events right through the end of the month. Most immediately, Helcia Bierman of Green Lake Bank will be here on Tuesday evening, April 22, with tips on protecting your identity. Join her for a presentation and Q&A session beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Next weekend brings a couple of authors to the library, one on Saturday morning and one on Sunday afternoon. Details next week – though you can get the scoop right now if you visit www.greenlakelibrary.org and click on Library Events.
