April 3rd Newspaper Column

Best news of the week – the daffodils in front of the library are up about an inch as of Monday afternoon. Spring is on her way after all.

Many communities across the country are celebrating Money Smart Week next week. Here in Green Lake one week was not enough to contain all the good information our local banks want to share, so April is going to be Money Smart Month. The good folks at 1st National Bank are kicking things off here with an event aimed at elementary students on Saturday, April 5, starting at 10:00.

Other noteworthy upcoming events include our knitting group, which meets every Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:30, or noon, or even a bit after depending on how much fun everyone is having. All knitters, from novice to master, are welcome. The Constant Reader Book Club (also open to new members) meets to discuss Mudbound by Hillary Jordan on Tuesday at 3:30. There’s another movie on tap Tuesday night at 6:30. The LEGO Club meets Thursday after school from 3:30-4:30. And Representative Joan Ballweg is holding a listening session on Thursday, April 10th, from 5-6:00.

And thanks to everyone who has stopped in, asked questions about funding, and expressed support for the libraries over the past few weeks. It really does mean a lot.
