Newspaper Column for March 20

Attention all Do-It-Yourselfers who are also beer enthusiasts: we’ve got a program tailor-made for you this Saturday morning. Join Jody Cleveland and Lee Reiherzer, members of the Society of Oshkosh Brewers, for an Introduction to Home Brewing and a sampling of “Caestecker Red Ale” beginning at 11:00. It’s the perfect DIY lead-in to that afternoon’s Brew Fest at the Heidel House. Jody and Lee will share tips, tricks, and stories from their years of home brewing hits (and maybe a few misses). It’s going to be great.

Today marks the official start of Spring, and the ground has to thaw eventually, so here’s an invitation to check out some heirloom seeds from the Green Lake Seed Library. We have a variety of flowers, vegetables, and herbs to grow this year. All we ask is that you save some seeds at harvest time to bring back for next year. Check our Seed Library Pinterest and Facebook pages for more information.

And if movies are more your thing, we’re still showing them on Tuesday nights. Coming up is the story of how Walt Disney persuaded PL Travers to allow him to film Mary Poppins. Showtime for “Saving Mr. Banks” is 6:30 on the 25th.
