Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours from the staff of the Caestecker Public Library!
We have much to be thankful for - so many people are generous with their time and talent and money and book donations every year. We are grateful for every one. This library would not exist without the efforts undertaken on our behalf by folks far and near, well known and anonymous. Thank you, one and all.
Before I start listing our events this week, I would like to tell you about two additional giving opportunities. First, the library is a drop-off point for the annual Diaper Drive coordinated by the county human services team. There’s a box in our lobby that we would love to fill. The lobby is also where our Angel Tree is located. There continue to be a large number of families the economic recovery just hasn’t reached. Please consider picking an angel or two off the tree and help to make the holidays a bit brighter for local families in need. Donations for both programs are being accepted through December 13.
As you likely already know, the library is closed on Thanksgiving Day. The rest of the holiday weekend, however, we are open as usual. And to tempt you to stop in, we have some special programs in store. On Friday, the young and young-at-heart are invited to drop by to watch a Christmas movie or two (or seven). There will be pretzels to munch rather than popcorn, but otherwise it’s a typical library movie marathon – nonstop fun from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday brings our first-ever Holiday Tea, with special guests Santa and Mrs. Claus. It promises to be a magical afternoon, with yummy tea sandwiches and sweet treats. Tea, hot chocolate, and juice will be available to quench your thirst. And of course Santa will be available to listen to your secret gift wishes. The festivities begin at 1:00, with a suggested donation of $5/person to benefit the Friends of the Library. I hope to see you there.
