October 10th Newspaper Column

Have you seen all the new books and movies and TV series and audiobooks we’ve gotten in lately? It’s astonishing! There’s something new in for everyone, and in most cases enough to last you well into the new year. Please click the “What’s New” tab next time you visit the library web site (www.greenlakelibrary.org) or just stop in. We’ll be happy to assist you.

We have programs and meetings and fun events going on all the time, too. Let me share a typical week:

Monday morning – knitting group meets from 10:00 till around noon

Tuesday afternoon – Bible study group meets from noon to about 2:30 p.m.

Thursday morning – story time for preschoolers from 10:00 – 10:25

Thursday afternoon – LEGO club meets from 3:30 – 4:30

All these activities happen every week and new participants are welcome at them all. Add in folks who reserve a meeting room for an hour or a day, students who need to take a test for an online class, and drop-in activities for school age children and you can begin to see how busy the library is every day.

This week, with the public school kids having Friday off, we’re going to have art supplies and a long roll of paper set up in our large meeting room. Students are invited to contribute to an autumn-themed art piece we wish to display in the children’s section. I can’t wait to see what they create.

And next Tuesday, October 15, is the Friends of the Caestecker Library annual meeting and program. You know we love our Friends group and are grateful for all the support they give the library. Joining the Friends is easy and inexpensive (only $5 a year) and you can be as active in the group as you choose. Coming to the annual meeting (and staying for refreshments and a free program) is an easy way to see if this group is for you. That free program this year is being presented by Kristia Wildflower, a storyteller from the Campbellsport area. Kristia will talking about Wisconsin native wildflowers and Mother Nature. The (brief) meeting begins at 4:00, with refreshments and program to follow.

Come join us for one or many events soon!
