Just over one week remains until Green Lake’s biggest celebration of the year – Harvest Fest! Along with all the food and fun, it’s a big fundraising weekend for local nonprofit groups, including the Friends of the Library. (The Friends’ Fall Book Sale is that weekend. Details next week.) Hope to see you downtown.
Before we get to Harvest Fest, though, we have a terrific program for you on Tuesday evening, September 24th. Rebekah Weiss, founder and wildlife rehabilitator of Aves Wildlife Alliance, will be here to present Night Tigers: Owls at 6:30 p.m. She’ll have a few owls along with her, so here’s a rare chance to interact with these mysterious birds. Bring the kids and learn about owl habits and habitat, as well as some of the myths and stories owls have inspired through the centuries. Rebekah’s visit is made possible by the Friends of the Library.
And I have good news for those of you who like to create beautiful hand-made items – our knitters group is now going to meet every Monday morning at 10:00. All knitters, no matter if you’re just learning or have years of experience, are welcome to join in the fun.
