Hey kids - it’s summer reading program time!
We’re signing kids ages 1-13 up for “Dig Into Reading” – our 2013 summer program. From now through August 3, reading can earn young people rewards like ice cream at the county fair, passes to a state park, personal pan pizzas, even tickets to a baseball game. There are concerts and craft days, LEGO club and story time, movies and wild animal visits to look forward to during Dig Into Reading. For the most up-to-date schedule, check the calendar of events at the library website www.greenlakelibrary.org
We have great stuff going on for folks over 13, too. This Thursday afternoon, for example, the Green Lake Festival of Music kicks off its Thomas E. Caestecker Free Family Concert Series with a return performance by Stas Venglevski at 1:30. Stas is a world renowned Bayan player and composer, and his concert here last summer was quite a hit. We are happy he decided to make a return visit to the library.
Cubs fans will want to note that James O’Brien, author of History 1, Cubs 0 – A Historical Perspective of the Chicago Cubs Championship Drought, will be here on Friday, July 5 for a 1:00 presentation, Q&A session, and book signing. James will have copies of his book available for purchase at the program, or you can purchase a copy ahead of time at Creative Soul, the new shop across the street from Town Square.
And just a heads up – the library will be closed on Thursday, July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. We’ll be open as usual the rest of that week. See you at the parade!
