Happy Library Week, everyone!
We’ve been celebrating all week with patrons of all ages. We’re saving the best for last, though, so there’s still time to get in on the fun.
This Saturday morning (April 20th) we welcome the Fox Cities Swing Band to the library. Wondering how we can fit an 18-piece jazz band into the area in front of the fireplace? Me too! But they did it last year, and I’m happy I will be able to see and hear them this time around. All the jazzy fun starts at 10:30. Hope to see you then.
Next week brings World Book Night (Tuesday, April 23) – an international event we are participating in for the first time. That evening volunteers will be handing out free books to folks, promoting literacy. What a terrific way to celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday. Look for book givers throughout the region.
Also that evening, we will be showing another movie at the library. This week’s offering is The Impossible, based on one family’s real life experience with the December 26, 2004 tsunami. Naomi Watts was nominated for a best actress Oscar for her role. Show time is 6:30.
The Friends Spring Book Sale is rapidly approaching, and donations of children’s and teen books are especially needed. This year’s sale is on Saturday, May 4th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Check out our bargains while you’re out garage sale shopping. Or stop by in-between Bird Festival events. Thank you for your generous support of our Friends group throughout the year.
