We have an event-filled week at the library, beginning tonight (Thursday the 9th) with an author presentation and book signing. We are pleased to welcome Cathy Duesterhoeft, author of Health for the Whole Self: Daily tips for the body, mind and spirit. Cathy will give a short presentation, followed by a question and answer session. Copies of her book will be available to purchase at the event, which begins at 6:30.
The Friends of the Caestecker Library hold their summer book sale this Saturday and Sunday, August 11-12, concurrent with the Fine Arts fair. This is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year, and we have received many terrific book and movie donations. Please plan to stop in between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, or 10:00-4:00 on Sunday and stock up on bargains. Proceeds go right back to the library in the form of programs, magazine subscriptions, and all the many other things the Friends provide for us throughout the year.
Tuesday, August 14th brings an evening program about pirates to the library. Dr. Dick Boyd of the Wisconsin Underwater Archaeology Association will present the story of Captain Dan Seavey, a reputed pirate who roamed the waters of Lake Michigan. According to Boyd, Captain Seavey “sailed, punched, and purloined his way into the folklore of the Upper Great Lakes” over a thirty year period. Find out more Tuesday night starting at 6:30.
