August 2nd Newspaper Column

The summer reading program may have officially ended on July 31st, but kids working towards a free Timber Rattlers baseball game ticket still have until August 6 to get their paperwork in. We’re very much looking forward to attending our game on Thursday, August 23rd.

August is a month full of fairs and fun, and we have both on tap for you. This Friday I will be reading stories and leading a craft time with Berlin library director Christine Carroll at the Green Lake County Fair beginning at 12:30. It’s free, it’s a great time, we get to see kids from all over the County, and there’s always a food element. What’s not to love? While you’re at the fair, check out the Friends of the Library display, set up by our regular front window wizards Joan and Arlene.

The Friends invite you to one of their biggest events of the year – the summer book sale! The sale is next weekend, August 11-12, running concurrently with the Green Lake Fine Arts Fair. Hours for the book sale are 8-4:00 Saturday, and 10-4:00 Sunday. There are loads of great books and movies in the sale – with special emphasis on art books and magazines. We also have a nice selection of sheet music for this sale. And if you have some gently-used items that you no longer need, we accept donations every day the library is open. We couldn’t have these great book sales without your generous support.
