July 26th Newspaper Column

The library’s summer reading program wraps up this weekend with a story time on Friday morning at 10:00 and a movie on Saturday morning (again at 10:00). Thanks to all the children who participated this year! Those who are working towards various prizes have until Tuesday, July 31 to turn in their record sheets.

We earned over $500 in Scholastic dollars from last month’s book fair, which have now been redeemed for new children’s and teen books. Thanks again to everyone who shopped in support of the kids. We will be enjoying the fruits of your efforts for many years to come.

And we’ve been receiving boxes full of new books, DVDs, and audio books every week this summer. Many of these new titles go straight out to folks who have reserved them in advance of their arrival at the library. Reserving materials is easy, and assures that you will (eventually) receive the item you wish to read or watch or hear. All you need to do it yourself is your library card and library PIN number. Or stop by the library and a staff member can help you. Getting stuff into the hands of people who want it is one of the best parts of working at the library. We love to see you smile.
