This week at the library we’re featuring shopping and ice cream and shipwrecks. Come and see.
Last week the Friends held one of their occasional “flash” used book sales – three hours on Thursday afternoon. Thanks to your efforts, they raised over $360. I am constantly in awe of the support you give us. So we’re bringing you another opportunity…
The new shopping piece is our Scholastic Book Fair. We have taken over the large meeting room and turned it into a book buyer’s paradise. Proceeds from this “book-raiser” will be used to enhance the kids and teen areas of the library. There is a wide selection of titles, for readers of all ages. And if you don’t find what you’re looking for on site at the library, there are more titles available online – which will also be credited to the library. Visit our calendar of events at www.greenlakelibrary.org for a link to the online sale. The library’s Book Fair runs through Wednesday, June 27 at noon.
Our annual ice cream social is this Sunday, June 24, from 1-4:00 p.m. Build your own sundaes and ice cream floats will be on offer. It’s also your first opportunity to get the kids signed up for the summer reading program.
On Tuesday evening we welcome George Mayhew from the Wisconsin Historical Society’s Marine Preservation and Archaeology program to the library. George is a volunteer research diver for the Historical Society, and he will be sharing stories about some of the Great Lakes shipwrecks he has helped study. We are really looking forward to his 6:30 presentation. I hope you will join us.
