Lots of activity at the library this week and next, and we hope to see you at some of our special events.
We have paintings on a variety of surfaces (wood, paper, metal, and canvas) by our April artist Karen Bednarek on display in the meeting room and in the case across from the checkout desk. We will have a reception for Karen on Tuesday, April 17th from 5-7:00 p.m.
Speaking of art, children up to age eleven are encouraged to pick up an entry sheet for Culver’s annual book-themed coloring contest. We have lots of free custard coupons to give away to participants.
This being Easter weekend, the library hours are somewhat reduced. We will be open only until 1:00 p.m. on Good Friday, open from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. as usual on Saturday, and closed on Easter Sunday. We will reopen Monday morning to kick off our celebration of National Library Week.
And we will be celebrating! On Wednesday, April 11, we invite you to join us for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or all three at Subway of Green Lake (503 Mill Street). Tracy and Laura Swayze, owners of our local Subway, will donate a portion of their proceeds that day to the Friends of the Library. We are delighted that another downtown restaurant is showing their support of the library, and very grateful for their generosity. Please plan to stop by, enjoy a delicious sandwich, and join in the celebration.
Next Thursday evening, April 12, is our next movie night at the library. We will be showing Matt Damon’s latest DVD release – filled with lots of exotic animals.
And you will hear about this next week, too, but I want you to mark Saturday, April 14 on your calendars. That morning we welcome the 18-piece Fox Cities Swing Band to the library. This will be a fantastic concert, and we are really looking forward to it.
