This is a revised version of the newspaper column, as I heard from Kathy Kline late Tuesday afternoon that we needed to postpone her visit. Kathy is now coming on Sunday, May 4th.
As a library we’re all about books…pretty much all the time. That’s especially true this weekend as we welcome a noted Wisconsin author to Green Lake on Saturday morning.
That noted author is Dennis McCann – a name you might recognize from his days at the Milwaukee Journal. Dennis splits his time these days between Bayfield and Madison, and is stopping here on his way north. Last year the Wisconsin Historical Society Press published his latest book This Superior Place: Stories of Bayfield and the Apostle Islands. Come get the inside scoop on this beautiful area of the state at 11:00.
Bird lovers are encouraged to attend Whooping Cranes: Back from the Brink on Tuesday evening, April 29. Members of the Operation Migration team will be here for a 6:30 program about these beautiful endangered birds. We have whooping crane items on display in the library lobby and in the glass case near the checkout desk to pique your interest. It will be a great way to wrap up Bird Month here in Green Lake.
And as you’re mapping your strategy for the city-wide garage sale day (coming right up on May 3!), be sure to pencil in a stop at the Friends Spring Book Sale. They have lots of great books, movies, music, and puzzles looking for good homes like yours.
