The calendar tells me it’s still winter, but here at the library we’ve been hard at work on spring and summer programming. (Yes, it could be that we’re suffering from cabin fever.) Over the course of the past week we have scheduled our special performers for the summer reading program, planned a series of workshops for the seed library and started a list of seeds to purchase, and exchanged email messages with an author who wrote a book about Wisconsin’s history as a great bicycling state. We’re hoping to convince him that bicycling around Green Lake and dropping by the library for a program would be fun.
Meanwhile we have movies to help take your mind off the cold. Next Tuesday’s offering in our Road to the Oscars film series is Blue Jasmine, written and directed by Woody Allen and starring Cate Blanchett. The film is nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Original Screenplay. It seems to be Cate Blanchett’s year to win – she has already scooped up an armful of awards for her work in this movie. Stop by on the 28th at 6:30 p.m. to see what all the buzz is about. We’ll have the popcorn ready.
