We’re in full Jane Austen celebration mode here at the library this week and next. Tonight (11/7) we will be screening an Oscar-winning film version of Sense and Sensibility. Saturday we welcome actress Debra Ann Miller for a noon performance of “Jane Austen Speaks!” to be followed by tea. Many thanks to the library friends, foundation members, and staff who are helping make these events possible. Austen Fest continues with the Constant Reader Book Club discussion of Northanger Abbey on Tuesday at 3:30 (open to all Austen enthusiasts).
Nothing scary about what’s happening at the library this coming week – just lots of fun. We’ll have our usual preschool story time Halloween morning at 10:00 (with a decided pumpkin flavor) and LEGO club that afternoon from 3:30-4:30. And we’ll have something for trick or treaters who didn’t get enough chocolate over the weekend, so if you need an excuse to get back into costume, we might just be it.
The weather has confirmed for us this week that winter is well and truly on his way. Good thing there are lots of books and movies and music and programs from the library to help you pass these chilly days and nights!
Trick-or-treating is this Sunday from 3-5:00 p.m., and the volunteers who run the library for us on Sunday would love to see you little ones in costume. There will be treats, too, of course, so please consider making the library one of your stops before 4:00.
