NewsGator is now offering its web service free of charge! This is definitely a feed reader that should be added to the list I hand out when I speak on blogs.
I can see it rivaling Bloglines, since it is web based, but allows you to delete individual posts and keep others. Having just returned to Bloglines from using Pluck for awhile, I'm not sure I'm up to seriously trying out another new aggregator. But if I was, this would be it! I especially like the Latest Buzz list which is the list of the top linked blog items currently. Very sweet.

This is an important fact for public librarians to understand. It sometimes can seem that everyone has Internet access at home, but they certainly don't. Some people in our communities would not be part of the Internet age without public libraries.

I needed to check the links on my list and found this sweet application. It opens up another window and checks your links giving symbols showing whether it is fine, gone or moved. It was the fastest one I tried, and the symbols are easily distinguishable from one another. Highly recommended!

This site really brought a smile to my face. It offers browser emulations from some of the earliest browsers, including the first one I ever tried NCSA Mosaic. Small Town Library Takes On The Feds
Way to go Deming! The tiny library in Deming, Washington refused to fall in line when the FBI wanted to know every patron who had ever checkd out a book on Osama bin Laden. I just love it when I hear of tiny libraries making a stand. It shows that we librarians who work in small towns have the same principles and standards that our larger siblings do, and that we are willing to stand and defend them.

Hennen's American Public Library Ratings have been released. I continue to be amazed at the high rankings that some libraries get compared to others. On the other hand, some of the top libraries in the state of Wisconsin scored at the top of the rankings. It is still a mixed bag and certainly nothing to be taken to heart.
