LingoZ

As if Wikipedia wasn't enough to get a lot of librarian undies in a twist, here comes the dictionary version, LingoZ.  It is a dictionary that everyone can contribute to.  Unfortunately, it does lack quite a bit of the information dictionaries provide.  It offers only definitions.  No language of origin, no pronunciation guide (wouldn't that be nice online using audio!), no noun, verb, etc.  Just the definition, and those are sometimes very basic and don't speak to the complexity of the word.  Librarians start fretting, because this online dictionary needs some real librarian action to make it worth using.

Anyone interested in Lingoz might also want to check out wordie.org, which I launched last year. Lets you create word lists, add words (slang or “real” words), add citations and usage notes, and talk about words and language with an active community of logophiles.
