A Small Gripe

Authors, would you please not call me or visit me at the library trying to force me to buy your book? You start out all nice and cheerful, sweetly telling me the premise and the glorious wonder of your creation. If I dare to ask about reviews, your demeanor starts to change, you get a little more curt and little more pushy. When I finally refuse, always kindly and politely, you get downright rude. I don't care if the librarian down the road bought your book, you forget that I actually know him/her and may not want to emulate them. It really is my policy not to purchase items this way, despite your strong opinion on the matter. Sorry, it is my decision, and you only hurt yourself by swearing at me. And finally, for those of you who will inevitably try , the library door just will not slam no matter how hard you try. Something to do with the handicapped button. Sorry, no loud closure here.
