Audio Book Narrators

Rasovsky - YURIKA! - Narrators

I listen to audio books in the car and even on that limited basis definitely know that a narrator can make or break a story. This article classifies narrators and also gives a list of the author's favorites.

Your list of narrators does not include Jim Dale.
I think Jim Dale is an excellent narrator. He is the narrator for the Harry Potter book series on tape and CD. If you haven't listened to these books, then you should. Each book gets better and better the author and narrator are awesome! In addition Barbara Rosenblatt is on your list...she is very good. I may want to listen to some of the other narrators on your list in the near future. Thanks.

Too many readers are too worried about their professional voices being low and with lots of timbre.
When our hero is a woodsman he is bnot supposed to sound like a radio broadcaster doping a commercial...also mis-pronouncing still goes on,amazingly.

I've listened to more than 250 books during the last several years of driving to work. The narrator brings the book to life, nd I've read entire series just to hear the excellent narrations. Jim Dale, who narrates the Harry Potter books, and Rob Ellis who narrated the Lord of the Rings books, absolutely brought the books to life, and are two of the finest narrators I've ever listened to. They are fabulous!
