Reaction to CIPA

Mercury News | 06/24/2003 | Many libraries will skip grants to avoid using Net filters

I am hoping that we will be able to pass on the grant funding as well, but I know that some of the smallest libraries in our area will not be able to turn down funding in any amount.

Hi,

I am hoping that you and many other libraries will not be caught between Congress and free access to information.

I have set up a blog which discusses internet filtering/censorware from the perspective of "least bad". The company I work with, which actually specializes in corporate internet access control, has no agenda, does not think CIPA is a good idea and is willing to work with libraries to create responsive, flexible, librarian driven solutions.

Check out my Blog.
