Unable to use the expletive that I have been saying over and over upon hearing this because it would certainly change the tone of my blog, I will settle for a primal scream of rage! AAAAAARRRRGGGH! Now to decide whether we will give up our federal funds and continue to offer unfiltered access or bow to the pressure and keep the money in this tough budget climate.

I suggest you wait as long as you can and see what kind of clever workarounds the country's other brilliant US librarians develop (while contemplating your own, of course). The question will be what constitutes the minimum participation necessary to maintain funding and how can we work within that to maintain our values. We are a clever bunch, so don't lose hope just yet.
