Awards season has officially arrived, and that means our Road to the Oscars film series is about to begin. This is always fun, and one of the best ways to see quality films that don’t always make it to theaters in a fifty mile radius of Green Lake. We’ll kick off the series on Tuesday, January 20th at 6:30 p.m. Check the library web site for which film will lead off – the nominees were announced this morning and I had to write this column on the Monday before. My librarian crystal ball tells me we will have something here and ready to show in time for Tuesday.
The holidays went by in a blur of family, friends, food, and fun – which is why I missed having a column in the last two papers. Sorry.
This week brings new books and movies, as usual, as well as a couple of exhibits by talented local artists and knitters. Pat Dobrinska’s adult art students have their annual show up in our meeting room. And the library knitting group has a display of work both in the front window and in the glass case across from the checkout desk. It’s wonderful to be surrounded by their colorful works on these cold, cold days.
