Thank you to all the many people who sent good thoughts and wishes (and so many cards!) while I have been recuperating from surgery. They are all appreciated. I look forward to being back at the library come January.
Meanwhile, I am far enough along in my recovery to write a newspaper column, so here we go.
With all the encouragements to spend, spend, spend we've witnessed over the past few weeks, today is a day to step back and reflect. Giving Tuesday is a movement begun as a sort of antidote to the commercialization of the holiday season. It's a day to think about all the ways nonprofit organizations make life better. Whether you interests run to the arts or the environment, shelter pets or soup kitchens, please take a bit of time to share your time, talents, or treasure with those working hard to make a difference. Thanks.
We have another author visit and book signing for you this weekend! John Burke, avid collector and seasonal Green Lake area resident, has written a book - Never Enough: Confessions of a Capricious Collector.
